末学普惠，来自新加坡。于2025年5月，因因缘殊胜，有幸前往新加坡净土宗弥陀寺参加法会，末学便向师父简述了姑丈往生时的一段因缘。师父慈悲，嘱咐我将此经历整理成文，以资大众借鉴与共勉，故撰此文分享。
我的姑丈于2025年3月底因末期肾衰竭往生。因肾衰竭已至末期，医生判断若继续洗肾，将加重心脏负担，甚至引发心衰，遂建议终止洗肾治疗。在停止治疗后的两个星期里，他凭着顽强的意志力撑了下来，展现出对生命的坚忍与执着。
在这段最后的时光里，我们深刻感受到阿弥陀佛的慈悲护念。那时，全家正在中国旅游，似乎冥冥中有感应是姑丈在等我们归来。我们一抵达新加坡，便接到病危通知，立刻赶到中央医院探视。他已无法说话，双眼无神，面色灰暗，情形令人担忧。
离开病房后，我们劝表哥在父亲弥留之际念“南无阿弥陀佛”，告诉他说这不是迷信，而是一种慈悲助缘。正如净平师父常说：“念佛是多善根福德，危急时亦能助人离苦得乐。”我们也递给表哥一张佛卡，请他放在床边，并鼓励他向父亲介绍阿弥陀佛，视佛为慈父，并带着父亲一起念佛，缓解痛苦，感得佛力接引往生极乐。
翌日我们无法到院探视，只从表哥口中得知病况已极危急，医生随时可能宣告不治。那一夜，我们辗转难眠，只能不断念佛，将念佛功德回向姑丈。
途中也遭逢几道障碍。我因出国九天未开车，返新后发现汽车电池耗尽，只好送厂检修，前后耽误了整整一周行程。我把这一切视为外缘的提醒——越多障碍，越要坚定救护姑丈的心念。车送修后，我和母亲商量，再次前往医院助念，并带上净土宗道场最近制作流通的新款念佛机。
中午，我们乘搭公共交通抵达病房，立刻用念佛机播放净本师父的「临终关怀开示」。原本姑丈已经没有太多反应，但聆听开示后，双手轻轻挥动，似乎仍有意识。佛号仅播了一会儿，没想到他的面容便逐渐放松，五官安稳，原本灰暗的气色转为红润饱满，仿佛安然入睡。佛号持续至晚上九点，念佛机随即切换为「命终助念开示」。此时他逐渐平静，缓缓闭上双眼，如同熟睡，呼吸与心跳亦渐趋停止，最终在夜里 12 点 53 分安详往生。
翌日，我们紧急筹备后事。当晚才将遗体移入灵堂，一切仓促却顺利完成。感恩净土宗弥陀寺的净平师父迅速回应请求，并安排寺院的法师前来主持佛事。第三天清晨八点，法师抵达并带领我们家属进行约一小时的念佛法会，仪式庄严、意义深远，让我们深怀感恩。
更令人称奇的是，隔天，一只蜻蜓飞入灵堂，当场褪去一层外壳，仿佛向我们示现“脱胎换骨、业障消除”的吉兆。同时，家人陆续梦见姑丈化身为神采奕奕、毫无病苦的健康之人，令人倍感欣慰。
我们深信，是阿弥陀佛的慈光接引，成就了姑丈的安详往生，脱离苦海，得生极乐。也由衷感恩净本法师、净平法师研发并流通有助念的念佛机——不仅在日常中广结佛缘，在临终关头更发挥了不可思议的助力。
愿这段亲身经历，能启发更多人信受念佛法门，在日常与家人种下解脱的因缘。

A Chanting Device Helped My Uncle Attain Rebirth in the Land of Ultimate Bliss
In May 2025, I had the opportunity to attend a Dharma assembly at the Pure Land Buddhist Amitabha Temple in Singapore. During this visit, I briefly shared with the Dharma Master the events leading up to my uncle’s passing. With the Master’s compassionate guidance, I was encouraged to write this down – to support and motivate others. Thus, I share this account.
My uncle passed away at the end of March 2025 due to end-stage kidney failure. The doctors explained that if we continued dialysis, it would place an excessive burden on his heart which could potentially lead to a cardiac failure and advised us on ceasing the treatment. After the treatment was stopped, he endured for two more weeks with remarkable determination, demonstrating his perseverance and will to live.
During this final period, we deeply felt the compassionate protection of Amitabha Buddha. At that time, our family was travelling in China. It seemed as if, by unseen spiritual guidance, my uncle was waiting for our return. The moment we arrived in Singapore, we received notice that he was critically ill. We rushed to the Singapore General Hospital, where we found him unable to speak, with lifeless eyes and a pallid complexion - his condition was deteriorating.
After leaving the ward, we advised my cousin to chant “Namo Amituofo” beside his dying father. We explained that this was not superstition, but a compassionate form of spiritual support. As Venerable Jingping often teaches, “Chanting Amitabha’s name gain vast merit and virtue and can relieve suffering in critical moments.”, we handed my cousin a Buddha card to place at the bedside and encouraged him to introduce Amitabha Buddha to his father, to look upon the Buddha as a loving father, and chant together to ease suffering and invoke Buddha’s power for rebirth in the Pure Land.
The next day, my cousin informed us that his father’s condition had worsened and that the doctors were prepared to declare death at any time. At that point of time, we couldn’t visit the hospital. On the same night, we couldn’t sleep, so we kept chanting Amitabha’s name, dedicating the merit to my uncle.
We also encountered some external obstacles. Having not driven my car for nine days while being overseas, we discovered that the car battery was flat upon our return. It had to be sent for repairs, thus delaying our plans by an entire week. I took those setbacks as reminders - the more obstacles arise, the more determined we must be in our resolve to help our loved ones. While the car was under repair, my mother and I decided to visit the hospital again to assist in chanting, bringing along a newly released chanting device produced by Pure Land Buddhism.
That afternoon, we took public transport to the hospital and immediately played the “Near End of Life Guidance” by Venerable Jingben on the chanting device. Though my uncle had shown little prior response, upon hearing the teaching, his hands moved slightly – suggesting that he still had some awareness. Shortly after the Buddha’s name was being played, his face gradually relaxed, his features softened, and his previously grey complexion turned warm and rosy, as if he had entered into a peaceful sleep. The chanting continued until 9pm, after which the device automatically switched to Venerable’s “End-of-Life Guidance.” He gradually quieted down, gently closed his eyes, and his breath and heartbeat slowly ceased. At 12:53am that night, he passed away peacefully.
The next day, we hurried to make funeral arrangements. That very evening, the body was moved to the wake hall. Though it was a rush, everything went smoothly. We are deeply grateful to Venerable Jingping from Singapore Amitabha Temple for her prompt response and for arranging a Dharma Master to preside over the funeral rites. On the third morning at 8am, the Master arrived and led one hour Amitabha chanting service with our family. The ceremony was solemn and meaningful, for which we were most grateful.
What happened next was even more astonishing. The next day, a dragonfly flew into the wake hall and shed its outer shell - a symbol of transformation, rebirth, and the purification of karmic obstructions. Later, several family members dreamt of my uncle appearing in radiant form, free from illness and full of vitality - which was an immense comforting sign.
We firmly believe that it was Amitabha Buddha’s compassionate light that guided my uncle to a peaceful rebirth in the Pure Land, liberating him from suffering. We are especially thankful to Venerable Jingben and Venerable Jingping for the development and distribution of the chanting device - not only does it help build Dharma connections in daily life, but it also plays an incredible role in critical end-of-life moments.
May this personal experience inspire more people to have faith in and practise the Pure Land path - sowing the causes of liberation for both themselves and their loved ones.
