许多人觉得学佛很难，要读经、要持咒、要打坐、要修种种法门，似乎门槛很高。但其实，净土法门恰恰是最简单、最直接的方式：只要念佛即可得度。
即使一句经文都看不懂，也不明白其中深奥道理，只要能念「南无阿弥陀佛」六字便足矣！有人疑惑：「光念佛就能往生？」——是的。《阿弥陀经》明言：「执持名号」，只要念佛即可。
这就像小孩子什么都不会，却天天喊「爸爸」，父亲仍欣喜照顾他一生。同理，只要念「南无阿弥陀佛」，阿弥陀佛大慈父必护念，十方诸佛亦来加持。就这么简单！
现实中确有重病患者，甚至不信佛者，在病危时开始念佛而得利益：病情好转，或临终安详往生。若念佛无效，这些连动都动不了的人又能修何法门？禅修、持咒、观想……皆非所及；唯念佛，能念则念，念不动则听，听佛号亦成就，照样得佛力加持。这不正说明念佛已足够吗？
「执持名号」乃佛金口所宣，绝无虚言。只要信受念佛，决定得度。
Many people think that learning Buddhism is difficult—one must read sutras, recite mantras, meditate, and practise various Dharma methods. It all seems too demanding. But in truth, the Pure Land path is the simplest and most direct approach: reciting the Buddha’s Name alone ensures deliverance.
Even without understanding a single word of the sutras or grasping their profound meanings, simply being able to recite “Namo Amituofo” is sufficient. Some may wonder, “Can merely reciting the Name lead to rebirth in the Pure Land?” The answer is: Yes. The Amitabha Sutra clearly teaches: “Hearing of Amitabha Buddha, uphold and recite His Name.”
It is like a child who knows nothing, yet calls “Father” every day—the father is still joyful and cares for the child throughout life. In the same way, by reciting “Namo Amituofo,” the compassionate father Amitabha Buddha watches over the practitioner, and all the Buddhas of the ten directions extend their support. It is truly that simple.
In real life, even gravely ill individuals—some who previously did not believe in Buddhism—have started reciting the Name in critical moments and received great benefit: some recovered, while others passed peacefully and were reborn in the Pure Land. If reciting the Name were ineffective, what other method could those immobilized by illness possibly practise? Meditation, mantra recitation, visualization—none of these are within reach. Only Buddha-recitation remains possible: when one can chant, one chants; when chanting is not possible, simply listening suffices. Even listening to the Name brings accomplishment and the power of Amitabha’s deliverance. Does this not prove that reciting the Name alone is fully sufficient?
“Hearing of Amitabha Buddha, uphold and recite His Name” is a golden teaching spoken by the Buddha Himself—not a single word is untrue. With faith and recitation, liberation is assured.
